AC/DC Bassist Cliff Williams turns 62 today
AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams turns 62 today. Born on December 14, 1949 in Romford in Essex, England, Williams relocated to Liverpool in 1961 where he quickly got a taste for music from listening to bands who were formative in shaping the new wave of sound coming out of Liverpool at that time.
Williams names The Beatles and The Rolling Stones amongst musical influences and joined AC/DC in 1977 having gained experience in several groups including ‘Home’ and ‘Bandit’. ‘Powerage’ marked Williams studio album debut with AC/DC and Cliff is the third longest serving member of AC/DC.
Williams was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, along with fellow bandmates, in 2003. Between touring with AC/DC, he lends his skill to charities including ‘Classic Rock Cares’ and supporting the Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida.
Last year, following the ‘Classic Rock Cares’ gig in New York, Williams told Artisan News that he thought that the Young Bros. would be writing new material [for an album] and that he enjoyed relaxing and fishing during his break from touring with AC/DC.
Happy Birthday Cliff!
